A lunch time goodie @ The Hunter 486, Arch Hotel

Welcome to The Hunter 486.

Set in the contemporary, ultra chic boutique hotel that is the Arch and named after the 1950’s dialling code for Marylebone, have just recently launched their fresh, inspired ‘Best of British’ menu by head chef Gary Durrant.

My experience at this impeccable hotel is always a pleasurable one. The staff are out of this world. Every time I walk up the pearly white steps of this grand Georgian building, I am greeted with a welcoming presence to make you feel right at home.

The food here is just glorious. After having the chance to review their fresh new menu that I had heard so much about, I was dying to try, well of it all of course.

My selection of 3 dishes as follows along with a glass of Sav Blanc from my country of birth, New Zealand (and my favourite wine region) –

Warm butternut squash salad with chilli, pine nuts, mint & rocket. Very light on the tummy to start with plus anything to do with the mention of chilli has my seal of approval.

My fellow dining partner choose the pan fried Scallops which is always guaranteed a hit as an entree. Fresh, succulent with a well balance set of flavours.

Sticking with the ‘lighter theme’ I picked the roasted whole sea bass with orange & butter for the main.  Written exactly how it comes and done in their stone oven which I was totally digging by the way. Literally melting of the bone and gobbled up within 5 minutes. You could say it was simply delicious. I also managed to get my hands on some rib eye steak with a selection of different sauce toppings. A decent sized (250g) piece of steak, there was no undercutting or mooing going on here. Cooked to perfection.

The warm apple and rhubarb crumble with ginger custard for dessert was a killer. Custard was my favourite thing to eat as a kid growing up and after tasting this, it sparked my memory of just how great it really is. Im glad nothing has really changed. Next level!

Oh and not forgetting to mention the selection of nicely baked breads and their own hand made crisps with sea salt, lemon and sage. Happy days.

Finishing off with a fresh mint tea and a…..Pomegranate/Peach Bellini with its own swirly stick. As you do.

The Arch never misses a beat when it comes to sophistication. Portraying a touch of London glamour with gleaming leather booths, blown glass chandeliers, statement artwork and gorgeous floral arrangements. There is even an adjoining Salon de Champagne bar for those more intimate evenings accompanied with the bubbles.

A perfect place for an after work wind down drink, date night, corporate lunch or just a good excuse to visit because it is just so damn fabulous!

5 of out 5. Top notch. Never disappoints. Thank you 🙂
